From the Revd James Buxton, Chaplain
Welcome to our website!  Here you can find details of our usual services and events, the special services coming up and information about the Anglican presence in Izmir, past and present.  If you would like to find out more about us, do not hesitate to get in touch.

UPDATE (Saturday 4 April 2020)
We regret to inform you that during the current Covid-19 pandemic, the church is closed.  All regular church activities have been suspended.   It will be difficult and strange to keep Holy Week without our church building, and without being able to meet.  However, St John's remains a community of prayer and praise.  The congregation will be meeting by electronic means during this period of closure.  Podcasts recorded by the chaplain are available (and will be published during Holy Week).  Please email him (see contact details) if you would like to receive these.  Day by day, as we give thanks for our redemption in Christ, we also pray for the peoples of this and every land in this time of need, remembering especially those who are sick, and those caring for them, and all whose lives have been plunged into difficulty and uncertainty.

In normal times we welcome all visitors to the Eucharist on Sunday mornings, at 10.00 am at St John's Church, Alsancak.  Our usual pattern is to have refreshments together in the Church Hall after the service.
We usually meet weekly on Tuesday afternoons at  St. Mary Magdelene Anglican Church, Bornova, but once again this service is suspended during the health crisis.
See separate page for more information about the Anglican Church of St Mary Magdalene, Bornova.
